Mercia Open

The U21s had their first team outing of the season and defied nerves, muscle pulls and body hugging lames to record some fantastic ‘champagne’ fencing. The Mercia Open was loosely billed as a ‘novice’ competition’ encouraging first time fencers although many of them were displaying international and county badges. All but two of our U21 s were first time fencers with Leisl Rowe putting in a fine performance to come away with our only medal. It was a fantastic but long day. Some tired bodies, so tired that the champagne is still in the bottle. We will address this at the next Tuesday night session
